From the first moments we walk in whether for a behavioral consult or your yearly exam you will see a difference from your usually doctor visit. We pride our self on being Fear Free Certified which means we plan all our visits for an hour to allow time to be relaxed and patient with your pets and their owners. Just as if you were to go to your doctor and feel rushed through the visit with questions left unanswered, quicky examined and poked for tests, our furry companions can feel the same apprehension. Often seen with tails tucked, hiding, shaking, yawning, growling, or expressing bodily fluids. Now imagine going in and being greeted by a friendly face that offers you a yummy snack or perhaps a sweet treat who speaks calmly to you explaining what will happen next and helps to distract you during any tests. That is our philosophy! To treat every pet like they are our own, not a task to complete but a working relationship where every patient gives us their consent to proceed by their nonverbal actions. Only in dire medical situations will we ever force an animal through a procedure. In the end we find our patients and owners are always happy to see us again and find us nothing more than an annoying visitor who touches a little more then the usual.
